Something about America is a 13 year old boy’s discovery of himself, his
roots and standing up for what is right.
Its 1991, and the world is turning on its axis. The Cold War has ended,
Madonna is topping the charts, and Anders is watching the US blow Iraq
to bits live on CNN! But Nowhere, Norway is as far away from the centre
of action as it gets. And hiking trips with brown cheese aren’t subduing
the hunger to be elsewhere. And Elsewhere for Anders is the USA.
Anders lives outside Oslo with his grandparents. He never knew his father
but imagines that he is alive and well somewhere in America. School for
Anders isn’t easy either. After being booed off stage by his classmates
for passionately defending the US, Anders finds himself an outcast, leaving
him with only his two best friends: Hans and Buli.
The three buddies dream of being in America and jump at the opportunity to
join the US Air Force Baseball team. Life couldn’t be better! At practice,
the Coach is tough - but fair - and in him Anders finds the father he dreamt
of. And in Anders, the Coach finds the best natural pitching arm he has ever
seen. But when Anders discovers the lengths the Coach will push for his team
to win, he must decide who he is and what he stands for.
Based on a true story.

Thomas Guldbrandsen (29) is a passionate and ambitious aid worker who has recently
returned home to Oslo with his wife Anne to work for an aid organization. Thomas’
father-in-law Steffen Gunderson sponsors the non-government organization called ProAID.
ProAID is a symbol of Nordic utopia; idealistic, organized, and high-tech. Their mission:
professionalizing foreign aid development.
On his first assignment in Tanzania, Thomas befriends Seyyid, who reveals the local
corruption and the recent tragedy of his village. As Thomas investigates the matter,
he stumbles on a web of lies and deceit originating from ProAID.
Stan, a former accountant
from the aid organization who was fired for “alcoholism”, shows Thomas the money trail.
As the web untangles a young renegade journalist, Gordon, shows him the final evidence
and means to expose the corruption.
Thomas discoveries and actions will lead to a chain
of events that challenge ‘the Utopia’ and also his relationship to his father-in-law and wife.
What was once volunteer NGO’s (non government-organizations), have now become large
multinationals in a trillion dollar industry. NGO’s are often unknown, unregulated, and
fighting to get the next big donation.
‘Transparency’ is a social thriller dramatizing
foreign aid corruption, and revealing the weapon against it.
